Unfortunately, none of the artifacts came to life Tuesday night at Global Tastes, held at Penn's archaeology museum. Still, there was plenty to be all a'twitter about. The full bar, for example, serving Flying Fish Oktoberfish, and the all-you-can-eat oysters courtesy of Coquette. Since the event raised money for immigrant populations in Philadelphia, the restaurants represented were decidedly ethnic, including Shouk, Rangoon, Vietnam, Trio, and and Cebu, a cultural awakening for the Main Line benefectors, if you will.

Sweet and sour cauliflower from Shouk
Pan-fried pork dumplings from Susanna Foo
Our favorite thing of the evening, fresh ginger juice and strawberry lemonade from Jamaican Jerk Hut. We drank seven samples. L.D. would not be pleased.

But that ginger lemonade was the best thing I tasted all evening!
LD would have understood.
