And the Name of Borgata's New Restaurant Is...

...Izakaya! Borgata's PR machine tells us today the old Suilan will draw inspiration from the casual Japanese pubs of the same name. Michael Schulson, opening chef at Buddakan NYC, Pod before that, and host of the naughty-sounding show Pantry Raid on Style Network, has been tapped to run the kitchen. A club/restaurant hybrid, Izakaya will feature a sushi bar, a robata bar for grilling yakitori, and a sake sommellier. Borgata's wine director Anjoleena Griffin-Holst tells us that not only will there be sake, but a thoughtful selection of aromatic whites and light reds thats will pair well with the Japas menu. Suilan will be revamped "top to bottom," says marketing coordinator Brian Brennan. They're looking at a "second quarter" opening, so we'll see ya in the summer, Izakaya. Fingers crossed.
