Izakaya Open

Earlier this week, we tried to restaurant paparazzi Borgata’s then-unopened Izakaya. All we could see was the lounge, bulging out onto the pedestrian walkway, wrapped in what looks like a boxy wooden cage meant to house a very large, very strong bird. We can dig it. The menu went online today. Some things we’ll be ordering:

Steamed Thai Red Snapper
Lemon, ponzu, avocado… $12

Poached Sweet Shrimp
Sake, chilies, cherry bomb… $11

New Style Himachi Sashimi
Hot oil, ramps, soy… $12

Olive Oil Poached Salmon
Dash broth, almonds… $13

Shiso Lamb Loin
Braised daikon, soy sake reduction… $17

Uni Risotto
Peas… $10

Chef Michael Schulson is also offering sushi and sashimi, specialty rolls and tempura. We’ll be sure to check out the robatayaki, Japanese grilling. Schulson is barbequing everything from chicken wings to lobster sausage and duck meatballs with foie gras. Yum. See the menu in its (very long) entirety here.
